Converge’s ITAD Division to Offer Allscripts Health Care Customers IT Asset Disposition Services

Peabody, Mass., October 9, 2007 — Converge, a leading provider of IT asset disposition (ITAD) services enabling secure and cost-effective disposal of outdated and obsolete IT assets, announced today that its industry-leading technology will be offered to Allscripts’ customer base of more than 3,500 health care organizations. Allscripts is the leading provider of clinical software, connectivity and information solutions used by physicians. Converge’s leading products and services are designed to provide visibility into and accountability of a health care organization’s chain of custody and IT asset disposition.

Health care organizations working with Allscripts and Converge will be able to utilize Asset Manager, the industry’s most comprehensive Web-based ordering and real-time reporting system, developed by Converge, to electronically manage the entire process of removing outdated and unwanted corporate IT assets.

“Allscripts works closely with leading health care organizations throughout the United States to improve patient care through use of electronic health records and other technologies that deliver critical information at the point of care,” said Troy Moritz, chief security officer for Allscripts. “The confidentiality and security of patient data are key elements of Allscripts’ business, including the termination of obsolete data, storage devices and systems that contain such information. I’m pleased that our partnership with NextPhase answers the needs of health care organizations by properly disposing of proprietary data and systems.”

“We are excited to offer the industry’s most complete IT asset disposition services to Allscripts clients as the health care industry faces a number of stringent mandates to protect the rights of patients and their medical records,” said Chris Adam, director of IT asset disposition services at Converge. “During the IT asset disposition process, Allscripts’ customers can be assured that NextPhase will dispose of every hard drive and data storage device properly, and that outdated IT assets will be appropriately disposed of in a compliant manner.”

Converge's IT asset disposition services include:

  • IT Asset Disposal: Stringent physical and data security processes ensure that all sensitive information is safeguarded throughout the disposal process. The company partners only with EPA-recognized contractors for waste disposal to ensure that materials are discarded in an environmentally friendly manner that complies with state and federal regulations.
  • IT Asset Recycling: A rigorous data erasure process is maintained to ensure that all data is eliminated prior to any remarketing or redeployment of assets. Assets with no residual value are disposed of according to local, state and federal environmental mandates. Certificates of compliance with proper data erasure and disposal methods are provided.
  • IT Asset Remarketing: Converge leverages its expertise in component and system-level remarketing to maximize residual values of IT assets. Flexible revenue plans, including consignment, outright purchase and blended programs, can maximize residual values of IT assets.
  • Secure Transport and Logistics: Protecting the integrity of IT assets and the sensitive data contained in them during de-installation and while in transit is critical to ensuring that a proper chain of custody and compliance requirements are not compromised. Converge deploys only best-practice transportation and logistics solutions to make certain that the highest levels of service are attained.
