Converge Sponsors Free Computer “Take Back” Recycling Event on Oct. 13, 2007

Peabody, Mass., October 1, 2007 — Converge, a leading independent distributor of electronic components, technology products and supply chain services, today announced that its IT asset disposition division will sponsor a free computer and electronics product “Take Back” recycling event on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at its corporate headquarters, Four Technology Drive (Centennial Office Park) in Peabody. The “Take Back” event is open to all residents of Peabody and surrounding North Shore communities.

Converge’s “Take Back” recycling event will accept all desktop PCs and laptops, in addition to printers, monitors, televisions, stereos, PDAs and mobile phones, keyboards and electronic game consoles. There is a maximum of five products per category per person, and only one television per person. There is no limit to the number of mice and power cords/adapters residents can drop off. Items that will not be accepted are refrigerators, freezers, microwaves, ovens, stoves, blenders and non-electronic devices.

“There are serious environmental and security risks involved in improper disposal of unwanted IT assets for businesses and consumers. Dumping old computers in landfills or dumpsters is not an option,” said Chris Adam, director of the IT asset disposition division of Converge. “Converge’s free ‘Take Back’ event gives residents a chance to protect the environment, securely dispose of old equipment and clean the clutter from their basements, closets or attics in a responsible manner.”

As part of the “Take Back” event, Converge will process all computers and electronic equipment to the same high standards it uses for corporate clients. All computer hard drives will be securely destroyed to prevent identity theft. Everyone who brings a computer will be given a certificate of destruction, a written guarantee that every product being recycled is disposed of properly. In 2006, Converge diverted more than 35 million pounds of excess, obsolete and retired electronic equipment from landfills.
